Anushka Sharma, the 5'9 ft tall girl gifted with a pretty face, is the girl who got a golden chance to make her debut in a Yashraj Film. Anushka was born to an army family based in Bangalore. Her father is a high ranked army officer and her mother is a housewife.
Right from the beginning, Anushka wanted to make it big in the glamour world. She studied in Army School and then went ahead to do graduation in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.
With moral support from her parents, a confident Anushka got herself enrolled in Elite Modelling Agency. She was groomed by renowned style consultant Prasad Bidapa, who met her when she was just 13. Bidapa admits that Anushka always had the quality to be a star.

Barely days after Shah Rukh Khan and her husband Shirish Kunder hugged and made up after their infamous brawl at Sanjay Dutt's party at a Juhu nightclub, Farah Khan managed a casting coup of sorts by roping in SRK as the leading man in her next.
Wasting no further time, we hear the choreographer-turned-director has now zeroed in on her leading lady as well. And Mirror can tell you Farah has gone no further than SRK's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi co-star Anushka Sharma for the prized role.
Anushka is very excited with the offer, and has agreed in principle. And the modalities are being worked out. It would also be safe to say that like other biggies in B-town, SRK too, may have had a say in Anushka's selection.
A source told us, "Farah obviously wants someone big in the film; someone who is hot and happening. Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were the obvious choices but Anushka has won the race."
The source added, "Farah too is quite fond of Anushka. She was quite impressed by her dancing abilities in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi."
Meanwhile, Anushka, who will soon also start shooting with Aamir Khan for Rajkumar Hirani's next Peekay, is busy working out her dates for Farah's film.
The source pointed out that Anushka and SRK have always shared an excellent professional equation. "They gelled very well during the making of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, where they were romantically paired. They share screen space in Yash Chopra's next but there, Katrina Kaif plays the lead opposite Shah Rukh," the source explained.
With Farah's film expected to hit theatres in 2013, it would be refreshing to see SRK and Anushka together again after five years. Both Farah and Anushka remained unavailable for comment.

Anushka Sharma born on 1 May 1988 is a Bollywood actress and former model. In 2008, she was signed by Aditya Chopra for a three-film contract with Yash Raj Films and made her screen debut in Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She later received acclaim for her role as Shruti Kakkar in Band Baaja Baaraat (2010). Both films fetched her a Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare Awards ceremony.
Sharma's father, Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, is an army officer and her mother Ashima Sharma is a housewife. Her father is from Uttar Pradesh and mother from Garhwal. She has an elder brother named Karnesh, who was a state-level cricketer and now, is in the Merchant Navy. She studied in Army School and graduated with specialization in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. She later moved to Mumbai to further pursue her modelling career, where she currently resides.
Anushka says she originally wished to make it big in the modelling world but had no strong aspirations for films. She began her modelling career at the Lakme Fashion Week as a model for Wendell Rodricks's Les Vamps Show and was picked to be Rodricks's finale model at the Spring Summer '07 Collection. Since then she has done campaigns for Silk & Shine, Whisper, Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio.
Her first acting role was in Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) opposite Shahrukh Khan. Her performance was appreciated with film critic stating, "Anushka looks the character and surprises you with a confident performance. It's no small achievement to share screen space with an actor of the calibre of SRK and Anushka manages it very well from start to end." The film received positive reviews and was declared a blockbuster.
Her second film, Badmaash Company, also under Yash Raj Films, was released on May 7, 2010 where her electrifying chemistry with Shahid was much appreciated Anushka looked stunning in the film, her performance was livewire.
In Band Baaja Baaraat, a romantic comedy directed by Maneesh Sharma and co-starring debutant Ranveer Singh she played a middle-class Delhi-Punjabi girl who goes on to launch her own independent business of wedding planning and later falls for her partner. In preparation for the part, Sharma was required to master the dialect of a young Punjabi woman from Delhi. Some pundits, however, had expressed doubts about the film's prospects to leave a mark, citing the fact that the film rested totally on Anushka’s delicate shoulders. Band Baaja Baaraat was released and became a hit. Anushka received her second nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress and earned several awards and nominations at different award ceremonies. It has often been said that the film has acted as a major career move for the actress, as it brought her much recognition.

First venture outside the Yash Raj banner
Anushka first film outside YRF was Patiala House directed by Nikhil Advani and co-starring Akshay Kumar. Despite the film's lukewarm performance at the box office, Sharma received positive reviews; her passage from Janakpuri’s dhinchak girl to Southall’s siren was much appreciated by the audience and critics alike. In December 2011, she re-united with her Band Baaja Baarat team of Ranveer Singh and Maneesh Sharma for Yashraj Films's Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Despite negative media perception, the film was a success at the box office.
2012
In 2012, Anushka Sharma is featuring in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. This would be her second film with Shah Rukh Khan, opposite whom she made her Bollywood debut with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The film is already creating waves at the box- office, despite SRK- Katrina Jodi making much news in the tabloids Anushka surely leaves her mark in the film.
She has signed for Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet opposite Ranbir Kapoor and movie scheduled to go on floors in April 2013. Meanwhile, Anushka has completed shooting for Vishal Bharadwaj's Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, opposite Imran Khan. Trailer of the film was recently released and became a range with the movie lovers.
